Who we are
Guidelight Tech is an IT consultancy run by a sole trader in the UK. We're the data controller for the personal details you send us. To ask anything about your data, email [email protected].
What we collect
When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, business name (if you give it) and your message. If you email us directly we receive whatever is in that email. We don't use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.
Why we use it
Only to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to quote for and carry out the work. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and, where you ask us for a quote or work, taking steps towards a contract with you. We never sell your details or add you to a mailing list.
Who else handles it
A few services process data on our behalf to run the website and email:
- Cloudflare delivers the website, runs the spam check on the form (Turnstile, which looks at your browser and IP address to tell people from bots) and passes form messages on by email.
- Microsoft provides our email (Microsoft 365 and Outlook), where enquiries are stored.
Some of these services may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted within 12 months. If you become a client, we keep your details for as long as we work together and then for up to 6 years, for tax and accounting records.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
